Addicted to stropping?

I find that not only do I strop before my morning shave. But also the evening before I'll break out the strop and razors and have a go at them just to give them a little love and "work on the edge a bit..."

I find stropping to be quite enjoyable in itself. The feel of the cool steel in my hand, the sound of the razor swooshing along the leather, the tactile feedback of the draw. The satisfaction of HHT lopping off a couple of hairs on the back of my hand silently and smoothly...

Is it just me?:hmmm:

You're weird, but that's ok. I try to get through stropping as quickly as I can. I enjoy shaving, but I don't really get much out of having to strop, make lather, touch up the razor on occasion, etc. It's not a chore, but it's not really something I wish I could do more often in my spare time either

I enjoy it quite a bit as well.

I enjoy shaving and also the little pleasures that go with it... like the smell of the shaving cream, the softness of the tips of the brush, the sounds of the razor against the linen side, the touch of the leather grain of the TM strop...

But as stroping in itself... it is hard to say... maybe because of my clumsiness, my heart bleeds every time I nick my strop... :cry: (actually still minor ones along the sides... maybe I'll have to buy another one soon... SAD)

Have to try honing btw, just received my stones this morning... maybe... the feeling of the blade against a coticule...

I gave him a good strapping early last June, and he has been using more accurate terminology since :)

I think it's half the enjoyment.

I am sure there are some older gents out there that say there is no joy in a good stropping :) That handle would come round like the proverbial "catOninetails" :(

I am absolutely adicted to stropping, i strop at random times, i think about stropping a lot, in the rare moments that i have 3 minutes free when in my house if i come across my shaving den i will strop diferent blades in all the diferent stropes i have, i find it very therapeutic ...i just love stropping.

There is just something soothing about stropping a razor until the draw is just right, and watching it silently pass through hairs without a sound-that's when I think, this one's going to shave G-R-E-A-T.
Of course, being a military man, I have to then jam the edge through a car door, pry it with a crowbar, hack a medium sized tree down without resharpening, then shave....err....wait a minute. That's the ColdSteel commercials.
Never mind.
Still,
I do enjoy getting a razor "ready".

You may be addicted to stropping, but, there are worse things...

There's something for me, as a noob, about the concentration in trying to make each pass perfect. It's almost zen-like. I hope that it doesn't go away as my confidence increases.
